Eyebrows, much like the rest of us, are no strangers to the ever-changing world of fashion. From the ultra-thin arches of the 60s to the full bushiness of the 80s, eyebrows fashions come and go.
Not only does the way that we wear our eyebrows change over time, also how we achieve the look changes. From totally removing the eyebrows and drawing them back in with eyeliner, to today’s more favoured methods of tweezing, threading and waxing unruly hairs into a nice shape.
For serious fashionistas, definition brows are where it is all at right now, with tailored dynamic brows that bring out our eyes and help to frame our faces. Think of Megan Fox or Cara Delevingne, both have dramatic eyebrows that totally work for their faces. High Definition eyebrows are not a one fit for all, each face is different and HD brows should follow the natural line of the eyebrow, but with more oomph and polish.
HD Brows usually last for around 4 to 6 weeks depending on how quickly your eyebrows tend to grow. They are also useful for those who have the tendency to over-pluck their eyebrows as over a few sessions the eyebrows can be regrown and trained into the desired shape.
Whether you want a dynamic look or prefer something a little more neutral and natural looking, keeping on top of your eyebrow maintenance is important.
Make sure that you don’t over pluck, and don’t take your eyebrows too high – unless of course you don’t mind looking permanently surprised. Make sure your brows are even, and use a brow pencil to fill in your brows for a more defined look, particularly when you’re wearing make-up as sometimes lighter brows can get a bit lost in foundation and bronzers.
Using an old mascara brush or a dedicated brow brush to gently push brows into the right place after washing is a simple way to tame wild eyebrows. Some people swear by a little hair product – apply to the brush not directly to the eye area – to keep their brows in place, but you can buy special eyebrow gels that help to shape and define your brows.
Having your eyebrows professionally shaped by either waxing, threading or tweezering is a good idea as your beautician will be able to advise you on the best shape for your face and will be able to style your brows quickly and efficiently.
